Michael Oberle, NCC, LMHC

LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR

BIO

My name is Michael Oberle and I graduated in August 2021 with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Indiana Wesleyan University. I am currently working towards an LMHC licensure. My work as a therapist is centered around being warm, gentle, and affirming. I affirm clients’ experiences by making them feel like they are known, seen, and heard. I focus on entering every single person’s story with a sense of curiosity and understanding. I believe every person’s story is unique to them, and their experience needs a safe space to be validated.

My practice is informed by a blend of Attachment Theory, Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I am developing my clinical expertise in writing letters for gender-affirming surgery, sexual and gender identity issues, couples therapy, and a variety of mental illnesses. I am passionate about empowering people to become who they truly are so that they can achieve the goals and dreams they have for themselves.

As a former licensed and ordained pastor, I am driven to help people who have experienced religious trauma. I am a member of the Religious Trauma Institute where I have gained experience through utilizing a trauma-informed approach to working with clients. As a queer individual, I use a non-judgmental approach to work with clients who want to uncover the layers of how their religious trauma is affecting their self-esteem, relationships, and overall outlook on life.

Outside the therapy room, I enjoy finding the best taco places, dancing, traveling the world, and spending quality time with friends. As someone who has experienced being on the other side of the counseling room, it is imperative to connect with your counselor. I hope to provide a space where you can build self-awareness, find your true self, and fulfill the dreams you have for yourself. If I am not a good fit, I am more than happy to refer you to another counselor who might best fit your needs.
