Jenn Benson, MSW, LSW
THERAPIST

BIO
Hi! My name is Jenn Benson (she/her), and I am a licensed social worker. I have been employed in the social work field since 2007 in various capacities. I began my career with adults and caregivers facing end of life emotional, physical, and medical challenges. These opportunities carried me to Riley Hospital for Children where I began working with children, families, caregivers and medical teams to provide medical, emotional, and social support in the most trying of times. In addition, I also find myself fortunate enough to provide therapeutic services to children and adolescents in a home-based setting, as well in a school setting while working on my Master’s degree. Each role played a significant part in my journey. Having been able to work with and advocate for individuals and their families, in the beginning and end of their lives, has helped to shape my therapeutic skill set. I work with people from all walks of life, despite the era individuals find themselves in. My training has led me to utilize therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy, among others. I have experience with grief and bereavement, trauma and trauma response, adapting to acute and chronic health issues as well as individual, family, and group therapy. It is extremely important to me to provide a safe space for clients and people in general, and I feel that my professional and personal experiences aide in me doing so.
I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with honors, with a focus on childhood development, in 2006 at Indiana University Bloomington. In 2008, I obtained my Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University Indianapolis. I am an avid sports fan and spend most of my free time enjoying this hobby in some way. I am a Colts season ticket holder.. even though this is not always something to brag about! I am also pretty obsessed with Walt Disney World and take any opportunity I can to sneak down for a visit. I love my family, music, my animals, spending time with my friends, and advocating for friends, family, and communities.
