I am Bethany Richards, MD (she/her). I have over 20 years of experience as a Board Certified Psychiatrist. I have worked at 2 mental health centers, in several hospitals including inpatient psychiatric units, and most recently I was the Medical Director and Director of Integrative Psychiatry at the Neurodiagnostic Institute. I conceived of and helped develop the Advanced Treatment Center for Integrative Psychiatry there.
Through my own struggles with 2 decades of debilitating chronic pain, I discovered Reiki, Shamanic healing and a whole host of forms of self healing. I also became very familiar with alternative forms of treatment. All of these practices helped me to become pain free and also have great benefits for people struggling with mental health issues. I have integrated this knowledge into my practice of psychiatry.
I have treated mental health issues across the spectrum in many different people. But I have specialized in chronic persistent mental illness, trauma and its far reaching effects, women’s mental health and now integrative psychiatry.
I am from Evansville Indiana. I graduated from IU School of Medicine and completed my residency at University of Louisville. I currently live in Fishers with my wife and what I affectionately call our menagerie. Our 2 dogs and 2 cats. I spend my free time hanging out with them in our backyard, riding bikes and hiking with my wife. I also love to draw and paint.
I am booking appointments for integrative psychiatry which is like a traditional psychiatry appointment. It is up to you how much of the integrative part you want to try. I can do some reiki as part of one of these appointments if there is time and you are interested. I am also booking private pay appointments for Reiki only or Shamanic Healing.
